A PhD student and Marketing Consultant who thrives to reach set targets and takes pride in perfecting the job with over 7 years experience in the Marketing industry. Here’s how I did it…
I undertook my BA(Hons) in Advertising Management & Brand Management and graduated in the peak of the recession. Due to the lack of job opportunities, during the summer of 2012 I applied for internships to gain more industry knowledge and get ahead of competition. I went on to working for five internships on several accounts from different industries (from national properties to ‘Saucy Fish co’ to Netherlands based ‘Flexotels’ and more), within these roles, I learnt to develop and execute strategies to suit various products and markets. I enjoyed the social and branding aspects of the roles which led me to apply to study for an MSc in International Public Relations where I focused on Crisis Reputation Management in Social Media. During my masters degree, I continued working for the five internships which led me to my first role with a start-up renewable energy company.
One year later and one of my internships got back in touch and offered me a full time role as Marketing Manager. I went onto working for the Property Specialists for two years. During these two years, I enrolled onto a Google course and WordPress masterclass and self-taught myself how to use the Adobe Suite so that I can broaden my skillset.
During my time with the company, I wrote an award entry which was shortlisted for ‘Best Social Media Account In Manchester’ (they came second after National Football Museum). Within two years, I had submitted entries which won the company over eight awards. I have had several Press Releases in M.E.N, Insider Northwest, Business Insider and more. In addition I have created design pieces for adverts in magazines and events… You can view some of my work on WMiW.
A year later, I was headhunted by a law firm and worked for them for a year. I also continued to work for my previous employer on a freelance basis. One year later, I left the law firm, set-up my marketing consultancy (WMiW) and started my Advertising PhD.
